This pangolin mum and her pup were rescued by IFAW partner Jakarta Animal Aid Network from a private owner who obtained them through the illegal wildlife trade. The pup sadly did not survive, but the mother was released back to the wild in Sumatra. It is estimated that more than a million pangolins have been captured in the wild and illegally sold on the black market since 2000. IFAW is working with partners globally to stop wildlife crime.
